Thorn Technologies to Build Android Tablet Application for Screening and Diagnosis of Cardiac Arrhythmia for Patients in India
Thorn Technologies is proud to announce that it has been awarded a contract by Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Bioengineering Innovation and Design (JHU CBID) to help develop an Android tablet application that will help increase access to cardiac arrhythmia screening and diagnostic technologies for patients in rural India.
Thorn Technologies will work closely with students and advisors from the JHU CBID program to build an application that allows Registered Medical Practitioners in rural India to quickly and easily access and analyze electrocardiogram data and diagnose patients using a clinical decision support system on an Android tablet.
“This mobile application will be very beneficial to the people in rural India, who live quite far from hospitals and medical clinics and don’t always receive the diagnoses and treatment they need” says Anant Subramaniam, a JHU CBID graduate student who is leading the project. “With this app, local medical practitioners will be able to easily diagnose and treat patients with cardiac arrhythmia, saving time, money and lives.”
